Hearts Praying for Kidnapped

(PX3 "State of the World" 2024 finalist)

This photo series was taken during my time in Amsterdam and documents a public protest on the main square. Activists had placed empty footwear, heart-shaped balloons, and posters with names and images of Israeli women, children, and families kidnapped by Hamas. It was a visual prayer — a campaign to support victims of terrorism.

Though far from the site of the crime, these people stood in deep emotional connection with the victims. I witnessed a silent force, a collective human empathy reaching across borders. They were praying — for lives, for safety, for return.

The Kidnapped from Israel campaign was widespread across six continents and became one of the most globally recognized guerrilla public art actions in history. Through my lens, I tried to preserve both the fragility and power of that moment.
